The space
Scales Green Farm is a beautiful character cottage located near Keswick sleeping up to 8 guests. The ground floor contains an open plan lounge with working fire and smart tv with free view and Netflix. This extends to the dining room with another seating area with inglenook fireplace. Just off the dining room is the utility area housing an extra large fridge and freezer ideal for large groups. The character kitchen is located off the utility complete with rangemaster cooker, coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine and all modern facilities. Furthermore there is a downstairs double shower room with w/c located at the bottom of the quirky winding staircase.
To the first floor there are 4 bedrooms and the master bathroom containing over the bath shower w/c and sink. The master bedroom has a super king bed which can be split into two singles. Bedrooms 2&3 have king sized beds which can be split into singles and bedroom 4 has low level bunk beds.
Outside there is an enclosed patio to the rear off the kitchen ideal for letting dogs out. Small dogs may need to be supervised due to the wide metal farming fencing. There is a side patio located on the left of the building with outdoor dining furniture.
If you turn left out of the kitchen there is gated access round the back of Gate Crag Cottage to the shared country garden containing various fruit trees and berries. Here there is a tree swing for children to play on, a gate to the 4 acre field to explore and play in and an outbuilding which has been converted into a shared games room and cinema room. The steps leading up at the back of the properties have a fabulous panoramic view and well worth a look. Have a seat on the bench with a brew and enjoy the breathtaking scenery that surrounds you. The country garden is set on the base of Blencathra and has a large gate to access and explore the four acre field. Feel free to climb the hill to take in the stunning views of the valley or relax by the fire pit on the shared patio area and toast some marshmallows for that perfect rustic outdoor experience. In warmer months take the Blencathra footpath at the end of the driveway and about 1hrs walk you will reach Scales Tarn for some wild swimming.
The property is located on A66 so there is traffic passing by during the day but is quiet in the evening.
Scales Green Farm can be booked with Gate Crag cottage to accommodate larger bookings of up to 14 guests across 7 bedrooms.
Guest access
The back patio by the kitchen and side patio with garden furniture are exclusively for guests at Scales Green Farm. The shared garden, 4 acre field and outbuilding once completed are for shared access with Gate Crag Cottage next door.
Scales Green Farm guests are politely asked to use the back gate to the left of the kitchen behind the property to access the shared facilities to avoid disturbing Gate Crags driveway and seating area to the front of the properties.
