The Pistachio has a contemporary twist whilst maintaining an African industrial luxe appeal & has a separate entrance from the main home. A large deck overlooks the Knysna estuary with views to the infamous Knysna heads. We have 2 suites, if 1 is booked check out our other listing-The Blokhouse Lazuli Suite. We can include Dinner and Breakfast options too:please discuss this with us once you have completed the booking. (Subject to avail)
The space It's easy to boast a Superhost badge, there are hundreds of listings in Knysna but very few that fall into the ''contemporary designer luxe category''. Look no further than The Blokhouse.
When we first saw this burnt down property (Knysna fires 2017) we were blown away by its location , breathtaking views and ravine with birdlife. It was then that our journey started.
Our home has been described as contemporary industrial meets designer luxe. It is NOT a 5 star hotel. The Blokhouse is not a hotel it's a way of life and its our family home. It has been a project of ours for the last 4 years (from conceptualisation) designed by us and finished by us. The origin of Airbnb was to stay with locals in their homes experiencing their hospitality. We have been airbnb hosts of other listings for many years in Cape Town and we strive to ensure that our hospitality and look and feel of our listings for the price is second to none. Most of our guests have been creatives/designers and those that appreciate the uniqueness of our home and guest suites.
The main home is occupied us, our two sons and 2 kitties. We are very private and have an enclosed courtyard we make use of ourselves. Whilst contemporary in its design our home is still very down to earth and playful..just like us!
While we do have a pool, use of the pool is available on request and subject to availability. Current water restrictions prevent us from certain pool maintenance.
We are unique in that we offer delicious breakfast and homecooked fusion street food style dinners (subject to availability) served to your suite at affordable rates.
Guest access Parking is off street on our property. Guests may park directly in front of the fence as they come down the driveway, there is space for 2 cars (1 per suite). Please note that there is NO LEFT TURN into our driveway. If you approach from the this side please Kindly make a U-Turn and turn Right into our drive or your car may get stuck!
Other things to note For longer stays/ working holidays/ digital nomads please contact us as we are very happy to assist with making your stay more comfortable and useable eg Work Desk, Cooking Facilities etc and can possibly offer discounts depending on our current rate. We can also include meals for your stay at a special rate if required.
Please note that for stays of 5 days and more an additional cleaning fee of R200 will be applied in order to replace linen, towels and amenities etc.
Please note that our pool area is not fenced.
Please note that the bathroom ensuite is behind the bedroom area in the room and although not visible when entering the room it is technically "open plan" like a lot of contemporary rooms have these days and is not entirely closed off (there is a privacy screen).
Please note that Knysnas electricity can be unstable at times. There may occasionally be power cuts due to breakdowns in the area which are out of our control (unrelated to loadshedding). Please note that no refunds will be made for electricity or water cuts that are caused by the municipality during you stay l. (We will provide proof).
Neighbourhood Description
Paradise is a lush and safe neighborhood facing the lagoon and famous Knysna Heads. We have an abundance of bird life and monkeys often visit us. It is a 10-15min walk to Knysna Town (Grey Street has a few unique stores and coffee shops) and the Waterfront where you can browse the shops or enjoy a meal, or head over to Thesen Island (another 10 mins walk) to Tapas and Oysters for some cocktails and Tapas..a favorite in Knysna amongst locals and travellers alike.
